Fashionistas,
I am sorry to disappoint you but I am not the lovely Nicole who blogs at Nick & Nicole Plus 4. If you have been following along with “Create28” hosted by the gals at The Blended Blog, you were no doubt expecting today’s sundress prompt to be brought to you by Nicole. However, Nicole had a minor catastrophe late this week when her hot water tank blew up and left their family trying to keep their heads above water. So I am subbing for her.
When I volunteered to step in, I knew exactly what I was going to share. A white sundress I purchased a few years ago at Kohl’s. Here I am wearing it, hmmm, more than a few years ago…more like six years ago, to dinner with my Prince.
Trouble is, when I started looking for the dress in my closet today, it wasn’t there. And then I remembered how, earlier this spring, I had decided that almost 60 year-old grandmothers probably shouldn’t wear white sundresses and I guess I purged that puppy right out of my closet. Now I am wishing I hadn’t been quite so hasty – I am actually only 58, so might have been able to get two more years (ok, 22 months) wear out of this dress. It is, no, WAS a kind of timeless style. Would have looked kind of cute with my denim jacket.
So, then I contemplated blowing up my hot water tank and asking if someone could sub for the sub for today’s “Create28” sundress look. I texted my daughter Lauren to ask her definition of a sundress and when she said a sleeveless dress, I remembered the little swing dress I bought at Kohl’s a few weeks ago. Crisis averted. I give you my sundress prompt.
Swing dress with pockets, Apt. 9 from Kohl’s, denim jacket from…all this time I thought it was from Loft but it is Old Navy!, silver necklace from Charming Charlie and silver sandals from Rack Room Shoes ($9.00).
Another look.
Gladiator sandals from DSW, silver necklace from Charming Charlie.
This dress is so comfy, whether it is a sundress or not. The fabric is very soft and forgiving and so is the swing style. I always avoided swing cut dresses because I have a big front porch, if you get my drift. And I was afraid a swing dress would just stick straight out over the “girls” like a circus tent. But I decided to throw caution to the wind and try this dress on. All things considered – had a $10 coupon for Kohl’s and the dress was $19.00 before the coupon, I figured I could hardly afford not to buy it.
You might remember seeing it once before in a post from June 1, here. I wore it home from our overnight trip to Las Cruces. We were on our way to the wine fest but I was feeling so punk, as my father would say, that we just came home instead. I slept in this dress all afternoon on the loveseat in the den.
Now it’s your turn. Do you have a favorite sundress that you are wearing this summer? Won’t you share your look with us? You can link-up your look on Wednesday over at The Blended Blog, where we will recap all of prompts of the second week of “Create28”. Or jump in here now by sharing your look on Instagram using the hashtag #theblendedblogstyle.
Here are the remainder of the looks for this second week.
If you have a sundress look you’d like to share here on the blog, just message me, email me, leave me a comment below. I would love to put together another post featuring YOU gals wearing some of the looks from this link-up series.
Now to the question of the post. Question: Are sundresses acceptable for women of all ages? What’s your opinion? Should I have kept that little white sundress and worn it a few years more?
Thank you, loves, for coming by today. Enjoy a restful weekend.
Hugs and kisses,
Shaunacey

You look amazing in that white sundress and should go out and get another one! I’m also loving the striped number! Such a cute look with the denim jacket and sandals!

Too bad that you gave the white dress away. It was a nice dress & you looked great in it! I have given things away that I later regretted plenty of times… But I also love the swing dress! It’s a great sundress!
Happy Sunday!

You gotta love a dress that you can comfortably sleep in! This one is wonderful! Swing dresses might just be my new go-to for the summer. They are just so darn comfortable. I love all of the looks you’ve created but I think my favorite is the one with the denim jacket.

Yes, women of all ages can wear sundresses! Especially you, because you look amazing in them :)! Too bad you got rid of the white dress – it was really pretty on you. Time to go shopping! Love the dress from Kohl’s too – I think swing dresses are my new favorite.

Aw…you’re beautiful! I love purple on you.
