Hey girls,
Long time no write, huh? I have so many post ideas to write up but get home from work, run to the gym, cook dinner and collapse. Then do it again the next day. And weekends are busier. But this long-term sub job is about to wind down. In two weeks, I should have more time for blogging and YOU!! Hope you will hang in here with me.
So, 10 days (now 11) late I am linking-up with Anne at In Residence and her guest hostess Erin from Teal & Polka Dots. I bet they are already working on next month’s “Currently” post while I play catch-up for February. Hope you will stop by to see what they were up to the first of February!
Anne sends out prompts for the “Currently” link-up which for February were packing, jonesing, texting, reading, and hearting. Ok, I have to put these words in ABC order. That’s the OCD librarian in me. Here we go:
Hearting
Always hearting my family, friends and fur-babies. But I have been feeling especially hearted by my husband lately. This past weekend we had a few tense moments (hours) as we made some pretty tough financial decisions about some hefty purchases we had been considering. Saturday was hard and Monday was harder. In the end, though, in response to PC hearting me, I felt especially close to him. On Tuesday morning, my Prince left this message for me, “We are in this together” to which I added “One team!!”
I felt loved and heard. Through thick and thin, we are a team.
Jonesing(?)
First of all, this isn’t a word I’ve ever used. I did know what it meant but checked the online Urban Dictionary just to be sure. Found some references to jonesing ‘weed’ (which I still call pot – I know, that dates me.) But I am not jonesing for weed or pot or dope. I am jonesing for my first swim in the pool we are having built.
You might remember that PC played in the Senior Men’s World Series in Phoenix this past fall. While we were there, we stayed in an Airbnb that had a pool a few steps from our room. My favorite third baseman enjoyed a morning soak in the pool before his games, and an evening soak afterward.
We’ve tossed around the idea of getting a pool since we returned home from that trip. Shortly after Christmas, we started looking into pools more seriously. Consulted three different pool companies before signing a contract a week ago with Silver Springs pools.
Here is a screenshot from our pool design video.
Yuppers, I am jonesing after/for/about our swimming pool. We break ground one week from today. And now you know one of the big ticket items we were worrying over and discussing this past weekend.
Packing
PC and I received new lunch boxes (versus used lunch boxes?) from my daughters for Christmas. His is Cincinnati Red with a big C for his favorite baseball team. Mine is gray with white polka dots and my name monogrammed in lime green. The best color in the world. Green.
One of my unofficial goals or resolutions has been to pack our lunches for work everyday. I generally dislike eating leftovers but in the past year or so, we have designated Thursday night as ‘leftover’ night. Between Sunday and Wednesday, I usually prepare too much of some kind of soup or chili or stew so we have those leftovers. When I fix steak or pork chops, I intentionally prepare extra for PC’s lunch. But my standard lunch is an apple, Babybel light cheese or Weight Watcher’s cheese sticks, a few almonds, sometimes a salad. And when I remember, carrot sticks.
Reading
So. Many. Books!!
I joined The Blended Blog “Virtual Book Club” and have signed up to read A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley with some of the gals.

Reading this – ‘reading’ this using the Audible app available through Amazon. Love being able to listen to a book while I am driving to and from work, ironing, cleaning, working out. I am also finishing up Unstuffed: Decluttering Your Home, Mind and Soul by Ruth Soukup. And third-way through Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk: A Novel by Victorious Living: 101 Prayers and Praises by Mary Clewley.
Texting
Lauren
About how sick she, Francisco and Lucia have been for a long, long time. Lauren is at the doctor now. Francisco has had mono. Lucia has been sick at every end with diarrhea, congestion, cough, runny nose, high fever.
Brennyn
About how sick Lauren is, about Cady’s science fair project and reminding her of the ingredients she needed to buy for crock pot Salisbury steak.
Paul
About how much money we are thinking about spending and how nervous that makes me. And that maybe buying solar panels and a swimming pool all the same month would put a big strain on our bank account.
And There’s More Currently
In addition to what I am packing, jonesing, texting, reading, and hearting (but not in that order).
Celebrating…
surviving 100 days of school…which I may or may not have worked.
Loving…
the Valentine’s decorations my bff Sharon sent in a care package because she knew I hadn’t had a chance to get to Hobby Lobby to buy some for myself. Thank you, sweet Sharonia!
Thanking…
my lucky stars that God sent me this angel, my new friend Jasminka from Croatia to help me in the library. She has learned how to shelve books, check them in and out on the circulation database, has helped me prepare materials for activities with the kids and even helped me work with the children. Can you say blessing?
That’s some of what’s happening in my life…currently.
Coming Soon
Next week, I have several blog posts planned and we have snow forecast for Monday and Tuesday. How glorious it would be to have one snow day before spring. But it will likely make us all sick because it was 83 today and will be warmer tomorrow.
If we do have snow, I am going to blog with great abandon. On Monday, I will be joining some of the other Blended Blog-gers for a post on nurturing relationships. I am still working on decluttering my home, second post coming. I have a great snow-day recipe to share for “Tasty Tuesday”. And an update on my winter bucket list. So I hope you will come back.
Stay warm if it is winter where you are or stay cool if it spring. Enjoy your weekend, dear ones.
Hugs and kisses,
Laura Bambrick
You’ve been busy! Big financial decision are so HARD! I hate parting with hard earned money, but my goodness that pool will be amazing during those hot Texas summers! Love the “I love you because’ frame. What a great idea!

Thank you, baby girl, for the sweet message. They break ground tomorrow on the pool. Yikes! Here we go. We have really used that I love you frame I made a year or so ago. I want to make one for the kitchen now to use as a menu to keep me on track cooking dinner.

I am really looking forward to swimming this summer. I was in my best shape (in recent memory) when I was swimming regularly. Thank you, Jill.

I just loved reading this post! I am doing my Currently post tomorrow, haha! So close together. WOW, you guys are going to seriously have an in ground pool? Oh my! I am SO freaking jealous!!!!! You will just love it, though. I’ve been keeping my lunches super simple, I usually have a yogurt (and I switch up what kind every week), a spoonful or two of peanut butter, a fruit, a veggie and cheese! Lol! It probably sounds weird, but it is so simple and fairly healthy! It is all stuff I love, too! Then I usually cook dinner every week night and we rarely have leftovers. Your husband is SO sweet. I really do think you two are so great for each other and I haven’t even met y’all!

I had a pool at my little house before PC and I married. Looking forward to swimming to get back in better shape. According to my friend in Oklahoma who is also getting a pool, our pool price tag is a pretty good bargain but it nearly killed us to sign on that dotted line. I adore peanut butter and eat it straight out of the jar on a spoon. Do you spread it on anything or eat it off the spoon, too? Right now PC wants me to cook homemade soup every night. We had potato soup and tomorrow I will fix gumbo. He calls it ‘soup diet’.
Thank you for the sweet compliment on us as a couple. PC really is a treasure. He has a very good, decent heart. I am so blessed. If you want to coordinate our Currently post in March, holler. Maybe Jill would join us and we could do a link-up?
