Dear ones,
It’s time for the last “Currently” of the year. Linking up again with Anne in Residence and her co-host Catherine of A Short Blonde for this post about what we’re currently choosing, lighting, sending, singing, spending. Alphabetized, of course.
Currently
Right this minute I am luxuriating on my bed, my very own bed, having just returned home earlier today from a week-long trip to Kentucky and Ohio to see our parents. It was good to see everyone and I am so grateful to have our parents to visit. But there is no place like home and no bed like your own! Here’s what I have been busy with, when I haven’t been on a plane going to or coming home from somewhere.
Choosing
…clothes for my trip to the cooler climes of Kentucky and Ohio. Actually, their fall has been almost as warm as ours. But temps were predicted to dip in time for the last half of our trip so I packed a lot of layered outfits and my big green Michael Kors coat.
Lighting
…a fire in the fireplace for the kitties. Before our trip, the evenings were just beginning to get cold. While PC and I watch TV at night, the girls curl up near the fireplace to stay warm.
Sending
…not a dad gum thing yet. Well, I guess that isn’t wholly accurate. I did send Christmas packages from JCPenney to my mom, and from Amazon to Brennyn and Cady, and to me for Lauren and Lucia. But I wasn’t personally responsible for taking any of those gifts to the post office to be sent. I have a box to send out to Cady next week. Here’s a peak of some of what will be in it.
And if you need a few unusual Christmas gift ideas, have a peek at this post from November.
Singing
…very poorly always. But especially off-key on Wednesday night when we joined my in-laws for church and choir practice afterward. Of the three songs we sang at choir practice, I knew one. For the others my singing was more like “la-la-la” under my breath.
Spending
…time doing some of my favorite things. Working on my mosiac, scrapbooking, cross-stitching, writing, reading, making ‘wish bottles’. Stay tuned for a craft post coming soon.
Also spending money. ‘Tis the season. But having saved pennies this year, helped me to have a little extra money for gifts.
It was hard to say goodbye to our parents, not knowing when we will be home again. And my mom fell the day before we left. Her 21st fall since moving into her retirement community six years ago. We have about decided her bones are made of rubber…thankfully! Each fall is worrisome to her, naturally, and to all of us who love her. Two of her friends fell in the past month and broke their hips. I pray my mom continues to bounce if she hits the ground.
Your Turn
So, how would you answer this month’s currently prompts? What are you choosing, lighting, sending, singing and spending? Won’t you share in a comment below?
Going to publish this post and then start work on a couple of ideas for late in the week. Hope you will come by for a Tasty Tuesday recipe that is a delicious way to use up bits of leftover turkey and ham…together in one scrumptious casserole. Also hoping to blog about my Christmas banister garland (need to make it first) and the ‘wish bottles’ I’ve been meaning to make for two years. And Friday, I will be sharing some of my favorite children’s Christmas books. Or Christmas children’s books. Hope you will stop in again soon. Thank you for coming by today.

Ahh! Relaxing and blogging from the bed sounds perfect! Cady will just love that gift package (and I am sure her mom will, too with the clothes, etc.!). I am hoping to have some more time to craft after this busy season is over!

The first nights sleep after being away is the best! Thank you for linking up with Anne and I.

Oh, we have been sleeping sooo good in our own bed since we got back from our trip. There’s no place like home. Thanks for stopping by.
