As you probably know, the first think I have to do with these posts is alphabetize our prompts….
Appreciating
…that finally the repairs have begun on our new pool. Yes, NEW pool. Sad that a new pool requires repairs but appreciating that they are finally happening.
The camera lens on my phone is cracked. So my photos are even worse than usual! Ha! And that’s saying something. New phone being delivered tomorrow.
A better shot from our video camera.
Following
…the World Series. PC and I have stayed up way too late over the past week to watch the Astros beat the Dodgers in 3 out of 5 games in the series so far. Already on pins and needles for tonight’s game. #HoustonStrong #GoAstros

Investigating
…where we (PC, the girls and their families and I) should go to celebrate my 60th birthday. Have bounced around a couple of ideas. A cruise…have always wanted to go on one. An all inclusive resort in Cancun or another beach destination. Or a trip to Panama. My daughters and I have not been back since we left in 1988. Decisions, decisions.
Realizing
…every single day what a lucky lady I am. My PC isn’t real keen on holidays. But probably likes Halloween best or least worst of all. One year, he tried to give our dog away (just in fun) to every child who came to the door. This year it was the cat.
I am so blessed.
Stirring
…my 100 year-old yeast starter for homemade bread. Renewing my yeast every now and then between bread-baking keeps it alive. Probably won’t bake bread again until Thanksgiving. Especially since I caught sight of my widening behind in footage from our backyard video camera today. Back to Weight Watchers!
And one of the many shots of my derriere also captured today by our security camera.
Oy vey.
Your Turn
What are you up to currently? What are you appreciating, following, investigating, realizing and stirring? Won’t you share in a comment below?
Wishing you a wonderful first day of November. Please join me in praying for the victims of the terrorism in New York today and the victims’ families. God bless America.
Hugs and kisses,

I am appreciating this time I have with my daughter! I know the window is closing and I’m trying to make the most of it. Sorry your new pool needs repairs but I’m glad they are getting done! I’m back to watching what I eat too after my indulgent trip to Spain!

Cherish this time with your daughter. Cherish the little things you do together. Those are the memories that will remain with you both forever. While my daughters and I remember the trips, and the celebrations, we remember the crazy daily things that we experienced and endured together. I know you have a wonderful, loving relationship with one another and always will. Things just change a bit once they leave the nest.

I am currently mourning the change in seasons. The ground is white and I’m not ready for snow to be here. Or the cold weather for that matter. Ugh. I could use another mild winter. Countdown to Mexico is on now!
Yay for your pool finally getting repaired. How frustrating that must be. Our old hot tub needs repairs as well (not sure if the old gal will last the winter….fingers crossed).
Planning for your birthday sounds fun. As do all your potential options. How long do you plan to go away for?
I love Halloween! I love dressing up, giving out candy, and taking the kids out too. I left a giant bowl of candy on our front step with a note to take some. And came back from being out with the kids to a mostly full bowl. What? So now on top of what my daughter has, I have ALL the candy I was giving out. Definitely will be taking candy to school for my students or to leave in the staff room. Haha.
Happy November!

Didn’t it kind of renew your faith in humanity to find that the first person who read your ‘take some’ note on your bowl of candy, didn’t dump the whole bowl into their bag and run away? I think that is fabulous. We were wanting to watch the World Series so PC was very generous with what he gave away and our candy was gone in 30 minutes! I love dressing up, too. Halloween was always so hectic when the girls were little because we would get home from school/work and try to eat dinner, get costumes on, do makeup, before time to go trick-or-treating. My girls always had these homemade costumes that took some putting together, usually with props and makeup and hair. What was I thinking??? And for many years I had three girls (my step daughter, Bren and Lauren). You and your teacher buds were adorable in your costumes. What fun. I know your students appreciated your spirit!
It does seem a bit early for snow. Especially if it is going to last for four months or more. There have been years where we had snow on Thanksgiving but it has been such a mild fall, I can’t imagine that happening this year. And our cold is generally a very mild 30+. The wind might rip you in two but the temperature is rarely below freezing. We are planning an early December trip to Kentucky and Ohio to see our parents and worry that snow might play havoc on our return back to El Paso. I do hope we have at least one snow event with some accumulation. If not here, I will be forced to go to Albuquerque and visit my daughter and granddaughter where they are sure to have some.
My birthday plans revolve around PC’s trips/work in Germany this spring and everyone else’s schedules, too. Looks like although my b’day is in April, the celebration will be moved to summer. Of course, I will be 60 for a whole year. So there’s plenty of time to celebrate. Hard to think of myself as 60. But then, I am not there yet!! We will probably be gone less than a week and try to work things to fall over a long weekend if possible.
I am thrilled that the pool repairs have started. What a weight lifted. But anxious to get it all finished so we can close that chapter. Hope your hot tub hangs in for another winter. I know you enjoy it so.
Happy November, lil buddy. XOXO

My husband loves to make homemade bread. I love how you’ve had yeast starter for a long time. We did something at my old job, where we had a yeast starter and kept passing it around after we made bread. I can’t remember exactly how it worked, but it was kind of fun. I haven’t been on a cruise since I conceived Nathan on one! Ha! (Ok, sorry TMI!) Of all of the suggestions, I vote a cruise!! Although, I loved our all inclusive trip we did to Mexico last year. But, I think for a family trip I’d prefer a cruise. Or Disney!! Although, if you do Disney… it isn’t going to be relaxing at all. 😉

Appreciating: the cooler fall weather here in Florida. Low 80’s during the day. 60’s at night. No humidity. Lovely!
Following: Season 2 of ‘This Is Us’
Investigating: a new camera with higher pixels for myself. Hopefully by Xmas, I will have found the one! (hint!)
Realizing: that things are going very well for hubs and myself. And it’s OK to feel the goodness of it!
Stirring: this week I made Tuscan bean soup, butternut squash soup, apple crumb pie

Ooh, definitely I would pick somewhere warm with a beach for a big birthday celebration! So fun to be planning that with your family.

A new pool and home-made bread?! Sounds like you’ve had an exciting time…I’ve never tried homemade bread but LOVE when others let me try some of theirs 😉 haha

I have almost killed our family yeast starter so many times. Thank goodness, my youngest daughter also has some of the starter just in case I kill mine, and vice versa. The bread it makes is a lot like sourdough. Love it!
Our pool has been troubled since they broke ground on the thing in February. We were able to swim this summer but have had so many issues that it took the fun out of having it. Very frustrating.
Thank you for coming by! Enjoyed this link-up and your great prompts.

Any of those would be great places to celebrate your birthday!
There’s nothing like catching a glimpse of yourself from another angle to make you realize that you need to put down the ice cream and pumpkin coffee…or is that just me? 😉
