Dear Ones,
It feels like I have been away from blogging for so long when, in reality, it has only been three weeks or so. Have missed it and missed you all! But at the same time, I feel like my head and heart are still MIA. My mom’s health problems really shook me up and I am struggling with getting back to my ‘normal’ now that I am home.
So I thought for my first post back, I would ease into things by revisiting my autumn bucket list. Have a few more activities to check off the list since my last update. You can read it, here. For the last update, which was the first update, if that makes sense at all, I practically skipped right over the first five things on my list. Today, I am happy to report they can all be checked off as done, son.
- Have a lot of fall decorating done but keep finding more cute things to decorate with. Darn that Hobby Lobby. Shhh, don’t tell PC.
- I bought a garland and dressed it up. Will be sharing the how-tos in a DIY post coming up this weekend.
- Bought pumpkins but never got around to decorating them. When I left for Kentucky, I figured they would be rotten before I got home but they weren’t. I wound up using them in my wheelbarrow.
- Found my pumpkin head in Phoenix and the rest of my scarecrow in my closet and at Goodwill. I put my scarecrow in the wheelbarrow, too.
- And I looked for a wheelbarrow all over El Paso, truly. And then one day, after fulfilling another bucket list item, PC and I drove past a wheelbarrow sitting in front of a pawn shop. I was driving and couldn’t the car around fast enough. They were asking $30 but accepted $25. It was a struggle getting the thing in my Altima but my Prince found a way. And here it is.
- Next up, fantasy football draft. Check.
- Attend a UTEP football game. This hasn’t happened and may have to edit it to read ‘basketball’ game, then add it to my winter bucket list. There is a UTEP home football game over Thanksgiving weekend but Lauren, Francisco and Lucia will be here. Afraid baby-snuggling wins out over football, every time.
- Go on at least one hike. Check.
- Visit a food truck rodeo. Not yet. My unsuccessful dieting keeps me from pursuing this with much energy. I did go as far as to look up where some of the food trucks would be last weekend. Does that count?
- Run/
Walkin the Groove and Glow 5K. Check. And I just this minute registered us for the Cold Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk this Saturday. Yay, us!! Pictures from the race coming right up.

- Have fire in the fire pit. Totally forgot about this one. It really has been too hot but maybe we can do this while the kids are here for Thanksgiving.
- Visit a Farmer’s Market and have breakfast out. We ate breakfast at Ripe, which we really liked the first time we visited but not so much on this particular Saturday. I didn’t clean my plate, which almost NEVER happens. And then we shopped the farmer’s market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing. The “Fox and the Sound” was the cutest duet playing music to pay their way through medical school. Like their Facebook page, here.
- Seasonal painting at “I Painted That”. Check.
- Attend a play at the El Paso Playhouse. Oops, forgot this one, too. Good thing I made this list. Ha! Just need to look at it now and then. Whoa, just checked and this is the last weekend for “Diary of Anne Frank”. Bought two tickets for Friday night. So glad I am writing this post! Thank you, guys, for keeping me on track. It’s a big job, I know.
- Donate craft items to El Paso Children’s Hospital. A work in progress. I have a big box of supplies set aside for the hospital. Still want to go through some more of my scrapbooking stuff for more items to donate.
- Donate canned food at church. Check. We took our donations last Saturday night.
I have really enjoyed making this list and working toward completing it. I started to type “making this list and checking it twice” but as you now know, I keep forgetting to check it! It’s still a little early for Santa references anyway.
Did you create an autumn bucket list? Have you tried any new activities this fall with your Prince Charming or royal family? Would love to hear about it in a comment below.
Hope you will come back to read my how-to or, as we say in the education business, my procedural text for the fall garland. I had fun making it and it was a really inexpensive project! Always a bonus in my book (and PC’s).
Hugs and kisses,
Whitney a la mode
You had so many things on this list and you got to soooo many! You’re decorations are so festive! I still really love your painting 🙂

Thank you, Whitney. I think I need to coerce PC to do a winter holiday-themed painting with me so we can use them in my decorating! I really liked making my bucket list and I am working on putting my winter bucket list together right now. If you do one, let me know and we can link-up together.
Jill
I’m impressed with how many things you got to on your list! Your decorations look fantastic! I love your wheelbarrow scarecrow!

Thank you, sweet Jill. I always had a homemade scarecrow on our front porch when the girls were growing up…one year, it was a scarecrow couple. And I always built one for my kids in the library at school. Got a late start this year but better luck next year! Thank you for your kind words.

I didn’t make a list per se, but we HAVE been wanting to do more camping. Thankfully the weather has finally cooled off, and we were able to do a hiking/camping trip last month, and we’re heading back out next weekend after celebrating Thanksgiving with family! We are also trying new restaurants here in Savannah, another thing we’ve been wanting to do.

Isn’t it fun to try new restaurants? We get stuck going to the same old McDonalds!!! Ha! I love exploring new places. If you make a bucket list for winter, holler and let’s do a link-up!

Congrats on the 5K! I was going to do a 5K in December, but decided against it. I just did the marathon and I just feel I should keep my weekends as clear as I can in December, because it’s going to be crazy as it is with the holidays! I love that garland! I am planning a Hobby Lobby trip tomorrow- watch out!

Thank you for your congrats. I could really tell that I haven’t been exercising. Have to get back at it. December is a crazy month but would like to try to run another 5K in the near future. They have an 8K here on December 3, but I feel certain that would kill me. Hope you found a lot of goodies at HobLob Friday. I am scared to go in there again until payday. If you do a winter bucket list, let’s link-up together.
