Hello, my pretties!
I don’t know about you, but I am interested to check out my progress on this 2018 spring bucket list. Kind of worried, because I have forgotten to check my list in making our plans for the weekends. Or in thinking about what I need and want to do during the week. Have printed it out to stick on the frig in past seasons but haven’t remembered to do that this spring until right now (hitting print).
To refresh my memory and yours, let’s have a look at my original 2018 spring bucket list post, here, and the April update post, here.
And now that we are have had our memories jogged, let’s see what precious little progress I’ve made on my bucket list this month. In the immortal words of comedian Jackie Gleason (dating myself now), “And away we go!”
2018 Spring Bucket List
For easy reference, here’s my list.
Hey, I have managed to accomplish a few things. Yay for ME!
Update 05.2018
Things are actually looking pretty good. And with a month yet left of spring, I might just wind up with 100% completion.
Crafty Like a Fox
Sketch and use watercolor pencils. Why, yes, I have! Had envisioned packing up my sketch book and heading to the mountains to draw. But that hasn’t happened. And since the prompt doesn’t specify where I am to do this, I am going to say that my first stab at Bible journaling fulfills this activity. Been playing with Twistables, gelatos, watercolor pencils and colored pencils in baby steps at Bible journaling.
Paint rocks. Completed, here, with my cactus rock garden.
Finish painting at Hobby Lobby. Started but not finished. Haven’t been able to get back to the HobbyLobster to paint. Hopefully, in June.
Susie Homemaker
Spring cleaning. Had started in April. Finished the upstairs this week: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a study, loft, and hallway.
The Imodium in photo below was older than I am. Sure as I’ve thrown it out now, we will have a stomach bug hit in the middle of the night and wish we still had it. Expired Imodium is probably better at 3:00 am than no Imodium at all.
Clean carpets. In progress. Look what I got for Mother’s Day, girls. Oh, how well my daughters know me (and can take a hint). Have cleaned all of the carpet and throw rugs upstairs.
Yard sale. Completed, kinda, here. Wound up sleeping through the alarm that was set to wake us up to have a yard sale. Donated everything to Goodwill and Candlelighters.
Let’s Get Physical
Hike and picnic. Pending. Might, might happen tomorrow.
Take a barre class. Completed, twice!! Have taken 2 classes at Pure Barre Kern Place. Can’t say I love it because it is so danged hard! But I feel so accomplished (and exhausted) after class. Wasn’t able to go last Wednesday and will be out of town this Wednesday. But have paid for 2 more sessions.
Begin swimming 3x a week. Begun. Today. The water has been too cold. Finally put our solar cover on and the temp rose 10*. Had dipped my toes in the water earlier in the month but today I actually swam laps.
Writing on the Wall
Finish writing the first half of my book (or five chapters), whichever comes first. Still pending but I have been working on 2 different books/stories.
Create a warm weather series for my blog. Completed, read more here. Stepping Outside my Comfort Zone is a link-up post that goes live the last day of each month. Join me!
Write 3 lessons for our Teachers Pay Teachers store. Pending. Working on 2 lessons. An elements of drama lesson and one about nursery rhymes and Mother Goose.
Food for the Heart
Take the convertible out for a date hop night. Completed, we did it! But now I can’t remember where we went. How sad is that? I know it involved shopping at the outlet mall and eating DQ chocolate dipped ice cream cones.
This has been a stressful couple of months and you can tell by looking at my eyes. I am tired. Wearing a Banana Republic tee, Kut from the Kloth jeans, necklace gifted from my Princey-poo.
Cheer PC on at his baseball games. On-going. El Paso Yankees won 10-0 today against the El Paso Rangers. PC was 3 for 3 with a run. Good game.
Attend a play or a special activity. Yes, done, son! We had such a great time at the “Don’t Look Back” Boston tribute band free concert at Sunland Park Casino in nearby Sunland Park, New Mexico. Had dinner beforehand at Souper Salad. It was crazy fun seeing senior citizens about our/MY age (except I kept thinking ‘look at these old folks’) jamming! A lot of air guitar playing, dancing with canes and walkers.
Raw hem white denim from Loft, Old Navy embroidered tunic, Payless heels.
Food for the Soul
Pay it Forward. Did this but not to the extent I would like. Armed with a fistful of quarters, I walked around downtown El Paso adding money to expired and almost expired parking meters. Saw an elderly (more elderly than I) couple pulling into a parking place and paid for their parking for 90 minutes. Was excited to be able to converse with them in Spanish.
Volunteer. Pending. I have a few ideas but need to be home long enough to do this. Since March 9, I have been out of town 4 times and will be going again day after tomorrow.
Donate items. Com-plete! Loaded up the stuff that should have been sold at the yard sale we slept through and donated it to Goodwill and Candlelighters. Now for the big tax donation.
Seems I have made some more progress. Let’s do some math to see how many of my activities have been completed. By my count, I have completed-completely (like that? it means really completed) 10 out of 18 items on the list. Six items are begun but not finished yet. And there are 2 that I haven’t begun. Looks like I have plenty to do between now and our final update on 06.21.2018.
Your Turn

As I work toward finishing things up for spring, it is also time to start thinking about summer’s bucket list. Would like to report that we have some exciting vacation plans but we don’t. My PC will be working in North Carolina a part of each month between June and September. When he’s home, we’ll be hanging out in the pool.
Before I bid you a good day, may I ask for your good thoughts, positive vibes and prayers as my daughter Lauren, her baby girl Lucia and I travel to the Cleveland Clinic this week. Lauren will be meeting with a doctor who specializes in microscopic polyangiitis for an evaluation and protocol for managing her illness. The video below will give you a little background on the disease with which my baby girl has been diagnosed. Not sure how much time I will have for blogging. But will try to post updates to Facebook and Instagram.
Have a blessed and productive week!
Hugs and kisses,
Gail
You’re doing very well! I love the Bible journaling. Very artistic. And you are so good with the spring cleaning. I haven’t done as much as I would like. I’ve taken quite a lot to the charity shop (our equivalent of Goodwill) so that’s one good thing.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay for sharing your no-longer-wanted pieces with the charity shop. I would prefer that to Goodwill. I am enjoying the Bible journaling and getting over my initial fear of messing up! Would hate to have a Bible full of my well-meaning messes!!
Natalie
You’re doing fantastic with your Spring bucket list, Leslie! Keep up your momentum and you’ll ace it by June 20. Sending you and your girls good thoughts and positive vibes. Have a peaceful week!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the good thoughts for my daughters. This has been such a tough time. I have a few of my bucket list items on the agenda for the weekend so hope to be in great shape for the final review.
Michael Ann
You’ve done a LOT, Leslie! I’m thankful you’ll be able to be with your daughter and granddaughter during this time. We all know that THAT is the most important thing for you right now. Blog posts will be bonus! Thanks for keeping us updated on your list AND on your girl!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Michael Ann. I am grateful to have been able to accompany Lauren to Cleveland. We have a new set of answers and questions after our visit. Isn’t that the way with medical issues?
Sure enjoying your great summer outfits. Going to sign up for the summer challenge right now!
Christie Hawkes
You have made remarkable progress on a very full bucket list. I’m impressed. Good luck with the rest! Also, your bible journaling is beautiful!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, Christie, thank you for the compliment on my Bible journaling. As a retired librarian, it almost feels wrong to be scribbling in a book, especially THAT book! Ha! But it is relaxing. And a good way to reinforce the word.

You’ve done well! I got a friend some water color pencils, but I’ve never tried them out myself. I need to get back into my devotional time. I completely stopped in March and I haven’t started back up. I feel pretty bad about that. Need to carve out some time this summer and make it a routine again. A picnic sounds like a great idea. I should surprise Brian with one sometime during his work day. There are some parks by his work.

Oh, surprise Brian with a lunchtime picnic!! He will like it and it makes a plain ole day fun and memorable.
Break out those water color pencils. They are really fun. If you don’t have a journaling Bible, maybe that’s something you could get to give you a nudge to getting back to devotional time. I know you are so busy! But you and Aut could work on a page together. In my Bible, many of the pages have outlined drawings and I just color them in and read the scripture. Win win!!

I’m pretty sure I haven’t done a lot of the things on my list yet. Summer break begins Friday so I would normally be moving on to a summer bucket list, but maybe I should try to complete my spring things first!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I hear ya on leaving the spring bucket list behind and thinking SUMMER! About this time each season, I am ready for the next season to begin. Want to take down my spring decorations on Monday and get out my summer.
ShootingStarsMag
Great job on everything you’ve already completed – and started! – from your bucket list. I’m about halfway through mine, so I’m excited about that. 🙂
I hope that your trip to the clinic goes well and they are able to help your daughter find a way to manage your diagnosis!

Thank you, sugar foot! Loved your birthday post. Especially the tip idea. Would like to give someone a 100% tip. Getting ready to write my glossies post right now. That series is so fun.

I’ve also taken two barre classes and they are SO hard. I have a friend who loves them and who has dragged me along with her. It was a good workout but I don’t know that I enjoyed it enough to want it to be my regular form of exercise. I hope you have a fabulous holiday weekend!
