Good Monday morning, friends!
Starting off this second week of November – I know, WHAT???- with another edition of “TBB Asks” hosted by the gals at The Blended Blog. While I try hard to be thankful throughout the year for my many blessings, it seems this is the month that we are more intentional about doing so. So following the prompt below, here are 15 things I’m thankful for. Thank you, Sarah at Foxy’s Domestic Side, Sheila at Making the Most of Everyday and Michael Ann at Out and Back for keeping me in the loop.
15 Things I’m Thankful For Prompt
My Responses for 15 Things I am Thankful For
A new friend. Blessed by Oralia, the grandma who has been volunteering over 4 hours a day to help me in the Whitaker library. She is heaven sent.
Something shiny. The bling on these new cardis from Target. Did I need more cardigans? No. But can one really ever have too much shine and sparkle in their lives? Me thinks not.
Someone unexpected. Grateful for Tani-beth and Sidney. Two former students who just appeared in my life in the last couple of weeks. Truly, just appeared…talking POUF! Last time I had a mani, before our Phoenix trip, a young gal sat down beside me as I waited for my nails to dry and it was Sidney, who recognized me immediately. WHAT? And whom I haven’t seen in a dozen years. Tani-beth walked into the Whitaker library last week and gave me the best hug. Turns out her niece is a student at Whitaker! Love seeing my former babies.
Something ordinary. For opportunities to work.
A person you’ve known for a long time. Thankful for my life-long bff Sharonia. She lives in Oklahoma so we rarely see each other but we have a friendship that dates back to elementary school. Many moons ago as I was just beginning this blogging adventure, I wrote a post about my sweet Sharonia. Please take just a sec to read it here.
Somewhere you go everyday. Home. And I thank God for it.
Someone who’s taught you something. My parents. Thankful for the foundation they gave my sister, brother and me.
A far-away place. My childhood home in Bartlett, Tennessee, where my family made many wonderful memories.
Something that’s saving your life right now. My crockpot. Not just now, but always. It is the reason we have hot dinners ready and waiting for us at least once a week. Had to buy a new one last weekend as the old one was no longer programmable. It had a good run. Hope this one will be just as faithful.
Someone you see everyday. Prince Charming, my PC. So thankful that he is the first person I see in the morning and the last person I see in the evening. So glad he emailed me on Match.com.
Something you enjoy doing. Many things. And yet, a lot of the things I enjoy doing also make me nervous…I am always so afraid I will mess up my scrapbooking, my cross-stitching, my painting and crafting. Such a shame that things that give me pleasure and a sense of accomplishment also have me doubting myself.
Someone female. Grateful for my baby sister Valerie. She makes me laugh everyday. She is my hero.
A special place. My loft. It is where my books are shelved, where photos hang of my family, my daughters. Where my kittens keep me company for early morning devotionals. Filled with crafting supplies and scrapbooks that represent favorite days in my life.
Something warm. The Sun City, El Paso. For its climate and its beautiful vistas and dramatic sunsets. Most of all, for its people.
Your Turn
What would your responses be to this “TBB Asks” prompt? Would any of your answers look like mine? I guess it would be crazy coincidental if they did…if you have a sister Valerie, brother Kevin, bff Sharon and some shiny new cardis from Target. Sounds like an episode from the “Twilight Zone”.

Hi. So much information! I’ll have to read your post several times to absorb it all.
Love, love, love your special place.
Lucky you!
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for coming by! I love being in my loft for many reasons…it usually means I am not working that day (ha), my kitties are snuggling with me on the couch, I am surrounded by little mementos of my life and my crafting supplies!
This is a fun series. Check The Blended Blog for their next TBB Asks details and join us.

Yay for Match.com indeed. I had kissed (and married) my fair share of frogs. So glad to have found my prince. Thank you for your sweet comment and for taking time to run by. XO

What a fun post! I think I want to join in…
I love running into former students too. It’s always fun to see them as adults in the “real world.”
And, yes to all of the cardi bling!!!

I didn’t know you met PC on Match.com! That is so sweet he emailed you on there. 🙂 I just planned out a couple of crockpot meals for next week and I haven’t used my crockpot in awhile… so, obviously the weather is cooler next week AND it’s a busy week! I need to make an area in our home that is more special place, love your loft!

You definitely need and deserve a special place of your own to curl up. I love my loft…and if I am there it means I am off work, snuggling in the midst of my favorite things, with my kitty girls beside me.
Break out that crockpot girl! I used mine at least once a week. We wouldn’t eat without it…well, not true…there’s always PBJ.
Chrissy
Hi Leslie! What a fun post to read. 🙂 Enjoyed all your “answers”, but what resonated the most with me is how you doubt yourself in the things you enjoy doing. Those things we love doing…the things we pour pieces of ourselves into, are often the most vulnerable places. I relate! Though I’m not a crafter, I feel that way about singing, writing, etc. Anyway, enjoyed my visit here. 😉

Join us, Chrissy, for the next SaD. We post on the first Thursday of the month. This month is young, so jump in now!! If you are interested in being added to our email group for reminders, holler back, sweets. Heading over to your blog. Thank you for the support about my flop of a pumpkin craft. I will try again next year. XO

Love the fact that you and your prince charming met on Match.com. My hubs and I met online as well. 🙂 I am in love with your loft space as well. It looks so cozy. As a crafter myself (I noticed your vinyl cutter:)) I get how important that space is to you. And it’s a perfect place for quiet time and morning devotionals. Loved this post.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. I appreciate your organizational tips on your blog. My loft is a rather tangled mess. Everything has a place but I just have too much! WAAAAAAAY too many sheets of scrapbook paper for starters. I really, really need to make an effort to scrap a few minutes every weekend.
Match.com was a good experience for me. I dated a number of guys, most of them only a time or two before deciding we weren’t a ‘match’ but almost all of them were gentlemanly and who they said they were. How fun that you and your honey met online, too! High five!!
