Amigas y amores, welcome!
It seems only fitting, since it is February, that the blog be sprinkled with posts about love this month! Starting today with 14 Questions All About 😍Love😍! So glad the gals at The Blended Blog are continuing their TBB Asks series into the new year. These Q&A posts are fun to write and hopefully, fun to read!
TBB Asks, 02.2018
Just looking at these questions now, as I write this post. Going to go with my gut answers and try not to think too hard. Which always gets me into trouble.
1. Kisses or hugs? Both. But if I have to pick, hugs. Somehow it is more appropriate for people to hug one another. I can hug PC, the girls, their princes, my friends, children at school, principals, my doctors, friends’ princes. The same can’t be said about kissing.
2. Candy or flowers? Generally, flowers. Gut instinct. Final answer. But PC did surprise me with a cute box of chocolates just yesterday. So sweet. I color his world. Let me show you.
3. Baking or cooking? I cook. But I also love to bake and eat baked goods. We are just perpetually trying to lose weight over here.
4. Do you remember your first kiss? First ever? Criminy. I do remember. It was 1971 or 1972, depending on if it was fall or winter. A group of us was playing “Seven Minutes in Heaven”at Vicki Morgan’s house. I had never played any kissing game before (or since). Kevin Brebaugh from the Baptist Children’s Home landed on me and took me into the closet for seven minutes in heaven. My first kiss…and it was a French kiss. I didn’t know what a French kiss was. I screamed. And gagged just a little. Que romantica. Do you remember that night, my sweet BFF Sharon?
5. Favorite color of roses? Gut instinct here…yellow.
6. Conversation hearts, yes or no? Not to eat. I do have a couple I have kept. One reads “Once Upon a Time”. It’s in my car console.
7. Do you leave love notes? Absolutely. For PC. For my mom when I leave her. Sometimes for my girls and for Cady who can read. I almost always send a text after I have been out with someone (not a date!), but like with a pal for lunch. I will tell them that I care about them and enjoyed our time together. Here are the directions to make this framed little message board.
8. Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? Not like I do for fall or spring, Christmas or Halloween. And this year, because of my limited mobility, I have just thrown some hearts around the kitchen and my garland in the general direction of the mantel.
9. Red or pink? Green. Not a choice? Then pink.
10. Milk, white or dark chocolate? Milk, followed by dark. What is the point of white chocolate. Like white gold? What is the point? If you want white gold get silver. If you’re having chocolate, it should be brown.
11. Do you believe in love at first sight? Love? Not really. Big, big lust, yes. I thought PC was the handsomest guy I’d ever hugged when we first met.
12. Do you give humorous or serious Valentine cards? Cute. Not sexy-ish, just cute and sweet and pure as the driven snow.
13. Favorite chick flick or romantic movie? Probably “When Harry Met Sally”. So tempted to over-think this one. Can I just add “500 Days of Summer”, “Shakespeare in Luft” (as we say in our language at home), “Sleepless in Seattle” and for my cool, hip answer “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”.
14. Stay in or go out? Ok, confession. I am not all that crazy about Valentine’s Day. I would rather have PC tell me in a special way on August 14 that he loves me. Or leave me a message tomorrow on our love note board. It’s like peer pressure or Hallmark pressure to profess your love in big, expensive ways on February 14. So, we will go out on February 10 instead.
I have a few plans for our Valentine’s date on Saturday. Whatever we do, I know we’ll have fun because we will be together. After all, it’s all about love.
Your Turn
How would you answer these questions? Hugs or kisses? Candy or flowers? Favorite romantic movie? Please share in a comment below along with your plans for la dia de amor!
Thank you for spending a little of your day right here with me. Hope your week is all about love.
Hugs and kisses,
Gail
Mr Mutton is the most unromantic man ever (although he does clean my car occasionally) so we don’t mark Valentine’s Day. But we always go out for dinner on our wedding anniversary. He has no choice!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha!! I laughed, snorted, chuckled at you writing that Mr. Mutton is not romantic! Cleaning the car out is very thoughtful, though. But not quite the same as flowers and dinners for two in some secluded restaurant. My PC does not necessarily fit the bill for the typical romantic but he does little things that mean more than two dozen roses ever would.

Love that memory of your first kiss! Hopefully things got a whole lot better from then on!
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day with decorating the house etc, I think us Brits save our interior decorations for Christmas only. And I don’t like the way the shops double their prices for red roses in the days leading up to the 14th so my husbands is let off the hook for large displays of flowers. But we do exchange cards and a small gift (usually chocolate related – dark for him and milk for me. Salted caramel flavour would be my first choice) and we will probably cook a nice meal at home that evening. BTW – what are conversation hearts?
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, that first kiss. I was horrified and embarrassed because I made such a squeal of displeasure that everyone outside the closet heard me. French kisses have grown on me since, though.
I am not sure how we Americans have become so over the top with all of our decorating. But maybe it is just because we are over the top in a lot of ways. Bigger is always better over here, it seems. Except when it comes to women’s waistlines.
Conversation hearts are little heart shaped candies measuring about a quarter inch, made of a whole lot of sugar and little else. No real flavoring. They kind of have the same consistency as a Tums or Rolaids you would take for an upset stomach. They are kind of grainy. Can you tell I don’t really care for them? But the one redeeming quality is each one has a little message on it. Something like “luv u”, “XO”, “Be Mine”. Kind of fun for the kids in school to give a certain conversation heart to their crushes.
Sign me up for salted caramel all day long. Great choice. However you celebrate the day, enjoy with your PC.
Carrie
Love your writing style, Leslie! I also adore the relationship you and PC have and what you share on your blog.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Carrie. It means so much to have you come by and leave a comment, too. Thank you, thank you. I think I write like I think…which means there isn’t always a lot to it!! Not a lot of depth over here at times!!
I have been truly blessed that I found my PC or that he found me. And all of the frogs before him make me appreciate him that much more.

This made me giggle. Totally agree with you on the chocolate. I mean, eat chocolate chocolate.
Your first kiss — LOL I think everyone has that reaction. My first kiss was when I was about 11. We were moving to Italy and my “boyfriend” was saying goodbye. He kissed me on the cheek, gave me a hug, and watched our van as it drove off.
The Hubs and I are not big Valentine’s Day people. We prefer to show our love randomly in weird ways. It’s more fun that way.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
What a sweet first kiss you enjoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good French kiss as much as the next gal these days, but had no idea there was such a thing until my ‘seven minutes in heaven’. Ha!
Yay for sharing love in random, weird ways. So much more heartfelt. We don’t need Hallmark to help us love our men!!

Hi Leslie! I agree with your thoughts about Valentine’s Day, Mike and I would prefer to show each other our love not just on one day of the year. Isn’t it funny how we remember our first kiss and yet I don’t really think about mine usually, but as soon as I read the question it came to mind. I love your frame and decorations and of course your darling granddaughters. Let love fill our lives always and not just on one day. Thanks for telling me about the link up. xx
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Exactly. Let love fill our lives every day. And I would venture to say that is the case for us both. I feel most well-loved every single day.
curlycraftymom
I agree, I’d rather be shown some little token or words on a random day than hearing it on Valentine’s Day when it is expected. I think its way more meaningful that way. Your first kiss had me laughing. I also agree, you can hug anyone, but kissing… not so much! Cute Q&A!

Oh, that first kiss. Poor Kevin Brebaugh. We probably had never spoken two words to each other before he put his tongue in my mouth, and certainly never spoke two words afterward. No bueno.
I am all about hugging. Even strangers. Which makes them think I am a STRANGE-r. But people need hugs and human touch. I love visiting my mom and snuggling all of the older folks at her retirement community. Some of them don’t ever get a hug.

Your first kiss story is the BEST! Such a perfect, movie-like first kiss (especially with the gagging). And I still think that you and PC are the ultimate love inspiration! You’re just the cutest!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
LOL, Whitney, you made me giggle. Wasn’t that kiss just Hollywood-worthy? Poor, poor Kevin Brebaugh.
You say the sweetest things about my PC and me. Really, your words mean so much. I would say we kind of like each other over here. Not in the gushy, syrupy PDA way but in our own weird way. I am blessed. So glad things didn’t work out with the first Ms. PC.
Andrea Nine
It sure is the sweetest first kiss story ever. My Mr. feels it is quite Hallnark related too so we spread it out all year long! LOVED your answers!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You can tell that your love story is not a one day event. Your blog is full of love, and the ways you share love with your family. All of your baking, your photos of hugs and special family memories. And it doesn’t hurt one little bit that you guys are all so wholesome and handsome and good looking!!! Such a loving, lovely family.

I have that same love sign, I have it in my kitchen right now! I was lazy on the decorating front and have NOTHING on my mantel right now…I know shame on me! Hope your leg is feeling better friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You know what, it’s ok if we took it easy on the decorating for Valentine’s Day, I think. I was kind of decorated-out. And it isn’t my favorite holiday. So we can enjoy this breather before we gear up for spring.

“Sleepless in Seattle” is such a good movie 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
“Sleepless” is an oldie but goodie. I like Meg Ryan. Always loved her hair cuts. And her wide-eyed innocence.
Sarita
We are perpetually trying to lose weight around here too 😊. And i haven’t watched sleepless in seattle in ages!!
